Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is an alternative approach to counselling and mental wellness that incorporates horses into the therapeutic process. Similar to talk therapy, an equine assisted session is spent working through challenges, integrating new skills, and improving our wellbeing- but in a different environment, using different methods, and with some extra support (the horse!). Horses are particularly useful therapeutic partners for those who are neurodivergent, have experienced trauma, or those who might not feel comfortable in a traditional clinical setting.
